I have a thing about flared jeans.
First of all - I LOVE a long, flared jean. They make me feel like I have REALLY long legs and I think they flatter any figure. You just have to find the right ones :)
The one thing that bugs me is wearing them with the wrong shoes. Now, remember, this is my opinion based on working with LOTS of ladies with different bodies.
The key to looking in proportion and slender in these jeans is to wear a heel….no matter what. They should always be on the longer side (unless they are cropped) which would require a higher heel. Depends on how tall you are and what the length of jeans are.
A good way to know what length you need to look your slimmest is to measure the inseam of a pair of pants that are on the longer side. Find out what that length is and then buy jeans with the same inseam. Make sense?
Do you know who Jessica Simpson is? She is famous for wearing REALLY high heels because she’s super short. There were days when she would wear her really long, flared jeans with a platform shoe and the jeans would cover the entire shoe. To me, that looks like you are wearing snow pants and ski boots - again, just my opinion. There are people who would argue that it’s a great look…not me.
The other things that really don’t work are a round toe shoe and an open toe shoe.
The round toe in general, will make your foot look smaller, in turn making your legs look shorter. No, thank you. An open toe shoe or sandal is not great for the same reason UNLESS the pants are a little shorter so you can see more of the shoe.
If you haven’t tried a long, flared jean, please give them a try. They are NEVER going out of style and when you put a heel, you will feel like a million bucks.
These are the ONLY jeans I wear on date night or an event where I’m dressed up but not too dressed up.
