As a little girl growing up in Winnetka, IL, shopping, putting outfits together and rearranging my closet were the things I loved to do. My mother often referred to me as "Mallory at the Mall" because I spent so many hours working on my wardrobes. It didn't take me long to figure out that a great outfit was a lot easier to put together with a well-organized closet!
As I got older living in LA, my friends would ask me to rearrange their closets and consult on their wardrobe. We would spend HOURS trying on clothes and organizing the closet by color, style and season. We’d go through each item and I would ALWAYS ask, “Where are you going in that?”. If the response was, “Ah, I’m not sure?”, then we’d toss it! If the response was, “Girls Night Out”, then we’d keep it! And that’s when my tagline was born...“Where are you going in that?”. Because really, every piece has its place!
Let’s face it. Every woman’s closet has it’s duds and it’s diamonds. It feels so good to clear out the duds so you can feel GREAT in the diamond. Trust me, after working in the fashion industry for Oscar de la Renta and other brands, I’ve got an eye for what works. I get great pleasure out of sorting through a wardrobe piece by piece to figure out what suits YOU.. We will pull out any item that doesn’t make you look or feel your best. I will pull those items out and give them better home through a recycled-fashion channel OR by donation. What remains will be the pieces that make YOU look and feel like a MILLION BUCKS. The best kind of wardrobe is the one you LOVE, full of pieces that can take you ANYWHERE you want to be :)
I love clothes. There... I said it. More than that, I love putting together great outfits! Creating the perfect combinations for the perfect occasions (even if its going to the grocery store) is a great source of joy for me. The only thing better is watching my client's faces light up when I work with them to redefine their closet and surprise them with the amazing looks that were hiding in the clutter. Here’s the amazing thing; I thought i was just doing their wardrobe, but it turns out this “closet cleanse” is bit cathartic…. A good closet cleaning and paring brings confidence, lightness, joy, and pride. The old stuff; poof - its gone:)
