Can I Wear Navy Blue and Black Together?

Gals,

Can you wear navy and black together?? YES!!

Navy and black are kinda in the same color family - WINTER. If you have had your colors done, you know what I mean :).

There was a time when people pooh-poohed the navy/black combination, that’s for sure. Today, the concept is MORE than accepted….see why!

1) Both are neutrals - why would you not pair your neutrals together?

2) The navy softens the look of all black just a bit.

3) Generally speaking, most people have these two colors in their wardrobe. If they make up a good part of the closet, then of course you are going to pair them together.

4) Putting these two colors together is actually really CHIC because it’s a bit of a fashion statement and a unexpected pairing….to some :)

5) “Tonal” dressing makes packing for a trip very easy.

So…….

If you are wearing a navy dress (like THIS ONE or THIS ONE this I put on a client yesterday - fantastic) you can go for your NUDE HEEL, for sure. BUT, another great neutral to wear with that navy dress is a BLACK PATENT LEATHER PUMP (my FAVS) . You can also wear a BLACK PANTENT SANDAL - these too HERE and HERE.

Think about dark, ink blue denim. It’s basically navy! So, if you’ve ever put on a black sweater with your navy jeans….then you’re wearing navy and black - ha!

I also love the look of a black blazer, black bootie, black top paired with my dark denim.

Let’s say you are wearing black pants or a black skirt…..pairing a navy sweater will keep you from looking like you are going to a funeral. I’m not at ALL against a monochromatic black look OR navy look! I just like the idea of mixing them to break up the monochromatic once in a while,

So, I did my best to find the same things I’m wearing in my video, but some of those things I’ve had forever! The hardest thing to find right now is a puff sleeve cashmere sweater in ANY color.

So, take a look at what I found and see what might work for you. By the way, try the navy and black combo if you haven’t already :)

LMK what you think!
